"Maddie & Marcy" is the second segment of the sixteenth episode of the second season of Amphibia, and the sixty-eighth overall.[3]
It premiered on April 3, 2021, alongside "Toad to Redemption".
Synopsis
Maddie is working on an important spell, but her three baby sisters keep getting in the way.
Plot
Maddie is busy trying to resurrect a dead pet flea for someone, but is annoyed by her sisters, who are distracting her with play when she is trying to concentrate on crafting a spell she needs to bring a pet flea back to life. Maddie used to juggle the three sisters and that's all they want again, but she's too busy and says she will play with them in a few minutes, but 3 hours pass, and Maddie is still busy.
Nearby, Marcy is in the woods studying the plant life and comes across the screams of spells gone wrong since the sisters were bored and started wreaking havoc, with Maddie demanding that they go away and just grow up. Marcy comes in and asks what's going on, asking Maddie about curses and saying she read Cynthia Coven books growing up. Maddie is excited that someone shares her interests and asks Marcy to be her apprentice while they bring the flea back to life.
As they return back to Maddie's place, Marcy asks her why she doesn't want to play with her younger siblings, and Maddie explains that she got interested in magic and ever since, she didn't have time to waste on playing with her siblings. But Marcy suggests to her that she should make time with them occasionally, but Maddie says to her that being a witch is a much bigger responsibility than babysitting. Unfortunately, the sisters have been watching and hearing the whole time, jealous that their older sister has a new best friend. They take Maddie's spellbook (damaging it in the process, which further infuriates Maddie) to find a spell that will make them grow up. However, the spell they find is simply a growth spell.
The next day, Marcy and Maddie successfully resurrect the flea, but then a substantially larger Ginger bounces in and seems to crush the flea. The other sisters bounce in too for a game of hide-and-seek, but due to their large size, are very destructive as they head toward the village. Marcy wonders why they used a half-baked growth spell on themselves when it dawns on Maddie that it's because she told them to "grow up". Problem is, the sisters performed the spell wrong and continue to grow in size, and will eventually become so big that they will explode. The sisters continue to increase in size until they realize that something is wrong. Marcy and Maddie are making the antidotes when Marcy finds they make four; the fourth being for Maddie, in order to be large to stop her sisters. She approaches them and does their favorite thing, juggling them. While juggling, Marcy throws the antidotes into the sisters mouths, shrinking them back to their original size before the last antidote goes to Marcy. The sisters say that they're sorry for being horrible, but Maddie says that she was the horrible one, and promises to make time for them, just as the resurrected Fleafy comes wheezing into town, not crushed after all. Unfortunately, the girls squeeze him too hard and his head falls off with all the girls terrified and with the episode ending.

- Frankenstein - The episode's subplot follows Maddie and Marcy trying to bring the flea, Fleafy, back to life.

- Looney Tunes - On the "Corpse Revival" page of Maddie's book, it is possible to see a frog similar to the Looney Tunes character, Michigan J. Frog.
- Winnie the Pooh - The honey pot Rosemary, Lavender, and Ginger were using for their potion had the word "Hunny" on it, which is the same mispronunciation of the word "Honey" on the honey pots for Winnie the Pooh.
- Harry Potter - Marcy's book "Cynthia Coven" is a reference to the Harry Potter series.
- My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic - The way Maddie's sisters are grown bigger after she said "They need to grow up!" is what the Cutie Marks Crusaders did with a magic wishing rose so they can travel to a fair in the episode "Growing Up is Hard to Do", though the CMC did grow in age instead of size.
